I've been wanting to write an entry on here for quite a while, but whenever I have the motivation, I don't have the time, and whenever I have the time, I don't have the energy.

This is really beginning to piss me off.

Wow.

Nov. 24th, 2009 | 10:12 am

2 things.

#1: My profile page no longer matches who I am, for the most part. I should probably change it. And get rid of half those silly stickies. Let's face it, I can't talk anymore, when I sit on Facebook too much.

#2: Breakfast at wetherspoon rocks. Especially when it comes with black pud.

Some thoughts.

So.

I've been thinking, and a few things have settled in my mind.

I'm socially very different from other people. That's okay. I'm happy enough with who I am, I just need to remember to stop trying to fit in. Years of conditioning will do that to you. Just got to remember to not bother conforming to the social bullshit people seem to expect. I'm wired differently. I'm wired to be highly logical, and the emotional side of my brain is very much less dominant. In fact, some might say it's barely there. I suspect it's more hibernating. But the logical part of my mind is extremely strong, and tends to override most other things. I crave the emotional stuff sometimes, and I had a bad habit of seeking out intense emotional experiences because it's the only way I really felt much. But the way my brain is wired gives me my technical talent and understanding. Shame it really doesn't help me much in terms of social interaction. But hey, the people I hang out with don't care for the most part, they take me as I am. Which is cool. Besides, there's no point me worrying about how I'm wired. It's not going to change. I tried doing that ages ago, with attempting changes in the way I thought, drink, drugs, and various other things. Doesn't work. At the core, I am who I am. And it's not a bad thing, however anyone else may view me. (Oh, Dr House, how you inspire me.)

Also, I'm quite intolerant of a lot of people. That's okay. Most people are idiotic, irritating and quite stupid. I have a right to be intolerant of them. Most are little better than animals. No, scratch that, I've met more intelligent animals. Please note that isn't targeted at anyone on my friendslist - if you're here, it probably means I think highly enough of you to have you here, and you don't irritate the shit out of me.

It's time I stripped out a lot of the shit from my life. Once I complete this code, I'm attacking this room once and for all. Anything I don't need, am unlikely to use, and am keeping "just in case" with no real use for, gets thrown in the bin. Enough is enough. It's time to clean house, and shed a skin or two, along with the stuff that clings to it.

And more coffee. More coffee is good too.

Edit: make that tea. I've overdone the coffee lately.

This made me chuckle today. Popped a ticket in for something I'd accidentally disenchanted.

First i "get" last.fm. Now I "get" podcasts. Never really saw the point in them before, but you know, while no doubt there's a lot of dross on there, there's some quite cool stuff too.

And another reason I like Mac OS? Select a word on a web page, and "look up in dictionary". And, indeed, the fact it *has* a built-in dictionary application. Sometimes I just get the feeling Mac OS is designed for normal everyday people who want their everyday stuff to work without having to think about it.

Ahhh.

Also, Wil Wheaton rocks.

Stolen ZZR400

Currently feeling: pissed off pissed off

Hi guys,

Unfortunately my mate has had the unfortunate discovery this morning that his blue Kawasaki ZZR400 has been nicked from outside his girlfriend's house.

If anyone spots it around, it's blue/black, reg H419 CCA. It's a long shot, but I'm putting the word out whereever I can. Taken from the Nelson, Lancashire area.

[Edit: they found the thing! Wonders never cease. Somewhat bashed up, but found it nonetheless.]

If anyone spots the bastards who did it, please feel free to accidentally damage them around the lughole. Repeatedly. And then possibly call the police after.

Worth a try putting the word out, anyway.

Another year, another birthday...

Aug. 5th, 2009 | 09:45 am

It's funny, this birthday I really haven't remotely felt like celebrating anything, particularly compounded with events of late. But instead of looking at what life throws at me, and how things have been, it's time to look forward, and see what's in store for me for the future, and look at this birthday as a springboard to the rest of my life. I'm getting ready to take a running jump at it, too. Oh, wait, it's already here. That'd be me, managing a 1 metre bounce, and falling on my face again. *laughs*

Seriously though... to the future. It's what we make it... and I plan on making it awesome. It's my last year before 30... and boy, am I gonna live it.

Well, I've been to Watford, I've been to West Sussex, I've been to Reading, I've been to Leicester, and I'm finally home. Well, okay, back on-site.

With my shiny new bike. Which is rather cool.

... Unlike the temperature outside and in here.

Also, I haven't dropped off the face of the earth. Not entirely, anyway.

Later people.

Just been pointed to this little gem - MailStore Home - a free easy way to back up mail, including off IMAP servers, into something that's restorable into anything too.

I think I'm going to be using this later!

Correction: This only supports 3 accounts. Good if you've only got, er, 3 accounts. Not the 15 or so I have to archive. Arse.

In other news, the bike is in the workshop. Yay.

You are The Sun

Happiness, Content, Joy.

The meanings for the Sun are fairly simple and consistent.

Young, healthy, new, fresh. The brain is working, things that were muddled come clear, everything falls into place, and everything seems to go your way.

The Sun is ruled by the Sun, of course. This is the light that comes after the long dark night, Apollo to the Moon's Diana. A positive card, it promises you your day in the sun. Glory, gain, triumph, pleasure, truth, success. As the moon symbolized inspiration from the unconscious, from dreams, this card symbolizes discoveries made fully consciousness and wide awake. You have an understanding and enjoyment of science and math, beautifully constructed music, carefully reasoned philosophy. It is a card of intellect, clarity of mind, and feelings of youthful energy.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

It's been a long few days, really. I'll crawl out from under my rock eventually, or something. For now though, take care everyone.

So. The Plan is in Place.

Here's the plan, and it's a fairly simple one.

I give myself until the end of December to do whatever it is I want to get done and out of the way.

After that, in January, I start work on the new project.

That gives me... about 2 and a half weeks, realistically, to get stuff done, or planned to have done if it's going to take physically longer than the timescale I have, then I get my arse into gear.

Sounds like a plan... looks like a plan... almost tastes like one. I'd better get on with it!

Note to self: Having UPnP enabled on two routers on a network, one of which is just supposed to be an AP/switch, tends to make it not entirely work properly. Duh.

Still, at least the thought appeared in my brain I suppose to check.

Calling all bikers...

Nov. 13th, 2008 | 12:48 pm
location: Home
Currently feeling: cheerful cheerful

I'm looking at buying a complete new set of gear - leathers, lid, boots and gloves - and have had the Dianese stuff particularly recommended, albeit expensive. The expense isn't a huge issue if it lives up to it's reputation. The boots I was looking at the Sidi ones, although again the Dianese stuff seems to be well rated online, and the lid... well, I've not really got much idea on that one, except I'd like it to have a skirt underneath so it's a bit quieter and less cold.

Unfortunately I haven't really got much of a clue what I should be looking for! Except obviously comfort and the features I want. I've got a bit of a toss-up going on between the leathers and the gore-tex - I much prefer the look and feel of leathers, but the gore-tex is apparently better all year round in this country (as it's usually raining!), unless I want to ride around with my luminous yellow waterproofs over the top. That in itself isn't a huge issue, more a minor inconvenience.

Has anyone got any particular thoughts or recommendations? Having come off once before with a jacket that was too big for me, I learned the perils of armour that does more harm than good - but of course, that wouldn't be an issue with a properly fitted set.

Ideally, I'd like something that keeps me warm, but can be ventilated when it's cooler... waterproofing would be nice but optional to an extent (I have waterproofs if it comes down to it!). Lid as said above (quieter would be nice, air not getting through when the vents are closed, could perhaps do with a visor that stops me being dazzled by the sun?), and boots (reasonably tough, would be nice to be able to walk around in them too without the soles coming off/apart/generally dying like the last pair)... course, I'm not asking for much am I? ;)

Advice appreciated!
